ACV (Average Contract Value)

ACV is the annualized value of a customer contract, normalizing multi-year deals to a per-year figure for consistent comparison. A three-year $300K deal has an ACV of $100K. ACV is used in quota setting, sales velocity calculations, and territory planning because it reflects the recurring annual revenue a deal contributes rather than its total contract value. It is closely related to ARR but applies at the deal level rather than the portfolio level.

Formula
Total Contract Value ÷ Contract Length in Years (for multi-year deals)
Industry Benchmark
SMB SaaS ACVs typically range $5K–$25K. Mid-market $25K–$150K. Enterprise $150K+. ACV drives hiring models and ideal sales motion.
